LAND ACKNOWLEDGMENT/

PERISCOPE recognizes that its work and the work of its community partners take place on traditional Indigenous territories across Turtle Island.

We acknowledge that there are numerous treaties and other agreements that cover the territories now called the United States and Canada.

We are thankful to be able to work and live here.

We are thankful to the Native Americans, First Nations, Metis, and Inuit people who have cared for these territories since time immemorial and who continue to contribute to the strength of Turtle Island and to all communities.

PERISCOPE is honored to collaborate with Indigenous clients, stakeholders, and communities throughout Turtle Island.

Acknowledging traditional Indigenous territories is one way to recognize contemporary and historical Indigenous presence and land rights. It is a small step towards dismantling the continued impacts of colonialism and undoing Indigenous erasure in our everyday lives.

Living on Turtle Island makes us all treaty peoples, including those who come as settlers, or immigrants of this generation or earlier generations, including those brought involuntarily as a result of the Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade.
